Friends of the Fund Recap

Friends of the Fund

The annual Friends of the Fund Event was held on November 13th at the Lancaster County Convention Center. It was a day to reflect on the positive impact an organization can have when it works together with the community focused on a greater cause. The event brought investors and supporters, local citizens, business owners, and politicians together to celebrate the accomplishments of Community First Fund, and honor outstanding clients and advocates. Each year, The James Hyson Awards are given in honor of Community First Fund founder Jim Hyson to customers and advocates who best exemplify the ideals which Jim strove to achieve. This year’s recipient of the Entrepreneur Award was Johanny Cepeda of Mi Casa Su Casa Cafe. William Stull, Peter Egan, John DiVitry, Gary Neff, and Brad Gearhart of Lancaster Arts Hotel, received the Community Development Award. The U.S. SBA Philadelphia District Office was awarded the Advocate Award and the Contributor Award went to Stephen M. Drizos of Center for Private Financing.

The event was capped off by keynote speaker Julius Walls, recent past President and CEO of Greyston Bakery. The event was a great success with more than 300 registered guests. We look forward to another successful year as we continue to work towards our goal of increasing affordable housing, life enhancing community services, opportunities to build wealth and the ability to earn a self-sustaining livelihood for all people.  To view more pictures and videos from the Friends of the Fund visit here.
