Chestnut Hill Cafe, Lancaster City
Two loans totaling $316,000 loan
IT HAS CHARACTER BOTH INSIDE AND OUT.
Family friendly and neighborhood enriching, The Chestnut Hill Café is a wonderful spot to enjoy a quick meal for locals and visitors alike. Owners Stephanie Bennett and Doreen Landis saw a vacant building as an opportunity to help develop a local neighborhood. They came to Community First Fund for funding of the renovation and development of the café after investing heavily in the creation of the apartment upstairs. After refurbishing what used to be a local grocery store, this coffee shop and eatery has since become one of Lancaster’s most popular gathering places.
The Café acts as a familiar spot to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of the neighborhood. Most customers travel by foot seven days a week to get their hands on Chestnut Hill’s fresh brewed coffee. With their great outdoor tables, people come together to enjoy live musical entertainment that is offered mainly on the weekend. The two owners manage the café, bringing experience in the food service industry along with graphic designing skills, aiding in the branding of their business.
