Leah Margerum

This Little Piggy, Lancaster City
$139,036 loan

Leah MargerumA

HEALTHY START! Leah Margerum, a mother of two with another on the way, began This Little Piggy in October of 2007. After the birth of Leah’s second child, she became more aware of the quality and prices of name-brand baby foods. This Little Piggy provides a healthy and affordable alternative for infants and children though Leah’s all-natural products. Pureed infant foods made from fresh organic ingrediants prepared without fillers or additives, coarsly textured baby foods, and finger foods for toddlers are uniquley designed to please child and parent alike.

This Little Piggy serves both schools and the general public through local markets, such as Lancaster’s own historic Central Market, and through wholesale. Leah took a giant step of expansion by purchasing a building with commercial kitchen space to support her business. Over the course of her business’s growth, Leah received working capital from Community First Fund and returned for commercial real estate financing to aid in the purchase of her current building. Now Leah is marketing some of the space to other culinary entrepreneurs in the Lancaster area.
