The bar graph below shows Community First Funds Total Portfolio by Dollar Amount. Our longstanding commitment to this region has resulted in the creation or retention of 5,000 jobs and in the creation of more than 850 new units of affordable housing.
One of the dramatic ways that neighborhoods see sustainable growth is through ownership of residential and commercial real estate. Our business lenders encourage entrepreneurs to purchase the property where their enterprise is located when the timing for expansion is right. During the past three years our commitment to small city revitalization has resulted in financing for more than 360,000 square feet of commercial space.
The pie chart below details how our financing was disbursed in FY 2013. We work to build strong and sustainable communities by supporting businesses and organizations that proactively reduce the concentration of poverty in small cities. How is this accomplished? Increasing availability of affordable housing. Strengthening access to community services. Providing people with the ability to earn a livelihood. Supporting wealth building opportunities for under-served populations.
