2010 Friends of the Fund

The 2010 Community First Fund Friends of the Fund Celebration

The date is confirmed!  The 2010 Friends of the Fund event will be held on November 19, at the Convention Center in downtown Lancaster.  As in the past, the event will highlight recent accomplishments and feature some of our most successful clients and dedicated advocates.  Last year we had nearly 300 in attendance and hope to meet or exceed that number this year.  The event is a great venue for networking with business, political, community and economic development leaders.  If you are interested in sponsoring the event, contact Stephanie Kessler and click here to view the varying sponsorship levels.

This year’s Keynote Speaker will be Judy Wicks, founder of Philadelphia’s White Dog Cafe and a national leader in the local, living economies movement. She has implemented sustainable business practices in many aspects of her cafe. Under Judy’s leadership, White Dog purchases sustainably grown produce from local family farmers for over 20 years, and developed policies to purchase only humanely and naturally raised meat, poultry and eggs, as well as sustainably harvested fish, and fair trade coffee, tea, chocolate, vanilla, and cinnamon. The cafe has also implemented recycling, composting, solar hot water, eco-friendly soaps and office supplies and purchases 100% electricity from renewable sources, the first business in Pennsylvania to do so.

She founded the nationwide Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (BALLE) and the co-founded of the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia.  Both focused on strengthening the local living economies movement.
